XJ900 cafe racer

Commuter on a budget, made to be parked on the street. Meant be nifty and reliable, yet totally unattractive to thieves. An old Yamaha XJ900 model, weirdly tuned by its previous owner, turned out to meet these criteria. The motorcycle was stripped of the old-fashioned bodywork elements. The suspension and brake system were repaired, and the handlebar, brake pump and lever, head and rear light, and console were replaced. Conical air filters, perforated metal sheet elements and a new fender and seat have improved the look. For lack of time and budget, an ugly fuel tank from a Chinese chopper was left to be changed at the nearest opportunity…..

The motorcycle retained its nice riding parameters, but a shorter handlebar makes it a bit more nervous while turning. The flat seat looks well enough, but is not to comfortable for longer rides. All in, it is an everyday commuting scarecrow 😉
